These are just a few greetings in the Polish language to start with. In my blog I will focus on an awesome and still undiscovered country full of history, natural beauty, delicious food, interesting places to visit and a weird stuff about Poles 😊

By the way, I'm meant to create short blog posts, which will be a big challenge for me as once I start, I can't stop 🙈

To begin with, do you even know where Poland is?

The country is in Central Europe however some people are saying that it is Eastern Europe for some reason. Poland is bordered by Germany in the west, the Czech Republic in the southwest, Ukraine in the southeast, Belarus in the east, and Lithuania and Russia in the northeast. Poland's northern boundary is the Baltic Sea (my favourite). The country's maritime boundaries are with Denmark and Sweden. It looks like Poland has a few neighbors and some of them look quite “angry” at the moment

A bit of Poland

My dearest country is the 5th most populated member of the European Union (around 40 million people), with a land area of 312,696 square kilometers. Did you know that United Kingdom is about 1.3 times smaller than Poland?

Because Poland is a geographical and cultural crossroads between Eastern and Western Europe, we have a lot of original traditions and habits like for an example taking off shoes before you are about to enter someone’s home or guys are taking hats off while eating or entering the buildings.

Poland has amazing coastline which is mostly flat with beautiful undiscovered beaches and dunes, however there are a few low-rise cliffs. I love polish coasts in the summertime however it can become quite busy very quickly. Funny enough some people are setting up loungers at 6am in the morning to book their spot for later – another example of polish weirdness lol.

We have a big river which flow through the whole country named Wisla (Vistula in English), which is Poland's greatest and longest river. As well you can find in Poland The Bledow Desert, which is one of Europe's five natural deserts, which is pretty cool! It spans 12 square miles, with dunes rising to a height of 98 feet.

Wdzydze Lake

Poland is covered in lakes around the country too, nearly every town in Poland either has a lake nearby or they are scattered throughout the country. Interesting fact - only Finland has more than Poland.

I remember Wdzydze Lake as the best lake ever, I used to go there camping with my father when I was little. I was moaning when we were going there as I was car sick, and it was more than 2h drive when we used to go there. As well it was no showers and electricity, but I would do anything to get back now to chill and soak in natural untouched environment...
